Excellent series of photos associated with a tour to the Far East by HMS Delhi in 1928.
Starting in Columbo, the ship moved to on to Singapore (where there is record of the cricket club); Hong Kong (where there are panoramas of Hong Kong and Kowloon as well as a marvellous view of the naval celebration of George V's birthday in 1927, in addition to views of Aberdeen, and Chinese daily life; Swatow; Amoy; fascinating images of actions against pirates in Bias Bay (Daya Bay) a famous haunt of pirates; Shanghai; Nanking and the Yangtse (with different types of junks); an attack by pirates on the SS Irene (including images of a bear on board!); and a marvelous picture of the ship's band.
The photos are enhanced by small hand-drawn vignettes.
