Description:
Although entitled Malacca (Malaysia) this map encompasses a number of countries of South East Asia. In the centre of the map is the Gulf of Thailand. The country Sian (Siam) is Thailand. The city Sian is Ayutthaya, the capital of Siam, and appears on a rather large island surrounded by the Menan Fluvius.
This map was engraved by Jodocus Hondius Jnr. for his uncle, Petrus Bertius book, "Tabularum Geographicarum Contractarum..." first published in Amsterdam in 1616.
A good dark impression.
