Description:

The London Missionary Society set up a school in Peking in 1865.The artist and correspondent describes the school in a page of text and illustrates a few of the pupils which was published as a lithograph in 1876 by W.M. Thompson, 20 Cockspur Street, London.

 

William Simpson was special artist to the Illustrated London News who spent some years travelling the world in the second half of the nineteenth century. He drew and painted many scenes on his travels. Some of these were later published in the magazine and a few were printed as lithographs.
