QUEEN's ROAD - No.953. -- Part of the Queen's Road Central, being one of the busiest parts of the town.

 

A view of Queen's Road Central from Duddell Street. To the right of the picture a parked rickshaw has the name Cheng Chong on the back. The right side of the street is bathed in sunlight and highlights the Hong Kong Hotel., the three-story building in the middle of the photograph. The first building on the right is the site of the present day Landmark Oriental Hotel.

The Daily Press, November 9, 1880 - "Afong , Photographer, D.K. Griffith holds authority to sign, studio Queens Road opposite Hong Kong Hotel. " The reference presumably is to a Power of Attorney, given Griffith by Afong.
