This scarce print is a design for the proposed new Roman Catholic Cathedral, at the top of Arbuthnot Road and below Caine Road, in Hong Kong. Inset upper right is a General Plan by J. Crawley, Architect & Surveyor, 2 Bloomsbury Square, London W.C..
By the time the cathedral was completed in 1887 the design had been considerably modified. Also it was in a new location about two hundred yards up the road, above Caine Road.
Today it is known as "The Church of Immaculate Conception".
The Building News was a specialist magazine published in London, England in the 19th century.
