" Shady Characters" was published by the South China Morning Post in 1909. In the picture we see three Hong Kong policeman. One English police officer escorts an offender. Two Sikh policeman look on either side of two offenders seated on the ground in stocks. The scene takes place under the shade of a tree. Collison-Morley was an artist who lived and worked in Hong Kong in 1909 and 1910. Lieut-Colonel Harold Duke Collison-Morley worked in Australia prior to the first world war during which he was killed in Flanders at the Battle of Loos in September 1915.He is listed in Guichards book of British Etchers.

 

A scarce lithograph published in Hong Kong in the early 20th century.
