Condition
Fragile with some tears, plates in good condition, a good copy.
Sternberg was a famous photographer and publisher of postcards and albums at the turn of the 20th century. This album is a rare publication showing public and private buildings, parks, streets, Harbour, Peak tram station, views of the Peak, Chinese smoking opium, Chow Chow on hillside, Chinese execution, Exhibition of criminals in the streets...The title on the cover shows 80 views but most of the known copies contain 70 views, without any missing card. Perhaps the panoramas were counted as four views each and the front and back cover another two which could make 80 views.
