L' Empire de la Chine avec La Tartarie Chinoise
A charming map of China with an elaborate Chinoiserie cartouche in the lower right hand corner. Based on the map of China published in Paris by de Vaugondy in 1750 this is a later variation of the map which includes Japan. It was published by Francesco Santini in Venice in 1779.
Francesco Santini was a merchant and publisher working in Venice in the second half of the eighteenth century. He re-issued maps by De Vaugondy, Homann Heirs, De L'Isle and D'Anville.
