This attractive map of South East Asia shows the route of the traveler and explorer Count Carlo Vidua, highlighted in red.
Carlo Vidua, Conte of Conzano, Vidua was born in Casale Monferrato on 28 February 1785. In 1829 he traveled to the Far East visiting Singapore, the China coast and the Philippines. The following year, he visited New Guinea and Indonesia. He was observing an active volcano in the Celebes which proved fatal as he received burns to the throat. He passed away on December 25, 1830 on board a ship carrying him to Ambon Harbour. He is buried in the church of San Maurizio in Conzano, Piedmont.
Doyen's Typography and Lithograph was founded in 1833 by Michele Doyen, Frenchman of Dijon, in association with lithographer Michele Ajello.
