The Foreign Factories at Canton with a busy river scene with many junks and sampans in the foreground. This picture was painted in Canton by a Chinese artist in the first half of the nineteenth century.

A well painted view by a Canton artist whose studio was probably in one of the lanes behind the factories. Using a popular method of the time of gouache on pith paper. Entitled in Dutch in sepia ink beneath the painting, "Het gezigt van Canton". Which translated means, "The view of Canton".
