Stamped ‘ATELIER / AUGUSTE BORGET’ and numbered ‘E10’ on the reverse.
This view was drawn, in pencil on paper, near present day Lai Chi Kok and is one of a series of sketches made by Borget while visiting Kowloon on 27 August 1838. A charming study of a fisherman's dwelling with overhanging tree. The view is looking south and in the distance across the sea Green Island and the western extremity of Hong Kong Island can be seen.
One of the earliest sketches of Hong Kong.
