Description:
One of the earliest houses on the Peak was Mountain Lodge. It was the Governor of Hong Kong's residence on the Peak which was built in 1867 on the sight of the old Military Sanatorium. It was damaged by the severe typhoon of 1874 and was never rebuilt.
A label written with pen and sepia ink and pasted below the photograph reads,Victoria Peak, Governor's House.
An uncommon and a little faded photograph of Mountain Lodge.
