The view looks across the Wellington Battery in the foreground towards the Man-of War Anchorage in the harbour and with Kowloon in the distance.
Various ships are at anchor in the Man-of-War anchorage which is just in front of Wellington Battery, including two receiving ships or hulks for storage offshore. In the middle of the picture is the receiving ship HMS Victor Emmanuel.
