Inscribed in pen and ink beneath the photograph, " Praya Grande, view from Alta Vista".
This view looking towards Guia Hill shows Monte Fort to the left. About 30 years after this photograph was taken Alta Vista would become the site of the Bela Vista Hotel.
Floyd had earlier established a photographic studio in Macau from 1865 but lost all his pictures and equipment in a fire in 1866 before moving to Hong Kong.
