Date:

Medium:

albumen print

Size:

18.5 x 26 cm

Description:

An unusual view of the Chater reclamation taking place in front of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank and City Hall. To the left they appear to be starting to dismantle the old sea wall below the cricket pavilion. In the foreground are stone blocks and building materials on the newly reclaimed land.

The photograph may have been taken by the professional photographer D.K. Griffith who at this time had a studio nearby in Duddell Street.

A rare photograph which we have not had before.
