A late eighteenth century view of Macau engraved at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The view shows the Outer Harbour and the Praya Grande from the terrace of the convent of S. Francisco; no foreign ships, a few Chinese junks and sampans. Both monks and nuns appear in the foreground. After Macau Praya Grande drawn by Duche de Vancy c1786 and engraved by Masquelier c1797. The English artist Sparrow was working as an engraver at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
