Hong-Kong Races. - The Race for the Plenipo Cup.
Two items on one page with the Map on top and the view of the race below. The horse racing is taking place in Happy Valley and this would be one of the earliest sketches before photography started in about 1860. This race features six riders at a gallop with relatively small crowds of onlookers either side of the fence in the distance.
These illustrations were published in The Illustrated London News on September 24 1853.
