Chinese artist Guo Chan or Guo Shang produced a series of stylised views of Hong Kong and Shanghai in the 1930s.
A wonderful view of the Shanghai Bund in the late 1930s created by the Chinese artist Guo Shang. It was printed in Shanghai by Zee Shin Kee Offset Printing Factory, 175 Hart Road, Shanghai.
The view is full of imagination and transport. Cars, buses and trams along with rickshaws, wheelbarrows, a bicycle and a speedy horsedrawn carriage. There are various aeroplanes. Different ships and boats appear in the river such as battleships, passenger liners, ferries and pleasure craft. Lower right two small boats appear with a date 1937 0026.
