A view taken from the river. Two Dutch ships and many native craft. From Nieuhoff's book :-' "Embassy of the Dutch East India Company to the Grand Tartar Cham", published originally in Latin in 1665. W. C. Hunter, author of ' Bits of Old China,' visited in 1825 the grave of a Spanish priest in Honam, who lived in Canton from 1633 to 1669, and thus must have witnessed the capture of the city by the Tartars in 1650 and seen the two Dutch ships depicted in the view.
