"A beautiful view of the outer walls of a gateway into the city with approach over the canal. The outer wall surrounding the city is about 30 miles in circumference."
Thomas Allom took from the original print of this view published in 1796 by William Alexander. He embellished it with stylised towers that are attractive but strait out of imagination.
