This scarce engraving is from Awnsham Churchill's, A collection of Voyages and Travels. This was an English translation of Philip Baldeus's work.
The Portuguese controlled the area of Bombay from 1534 until 1661. It was the ceded to the British as part of the marriage dowry of Catherine of Braganza. In 1668. This fort in Bombay was developed by the British in the early 18th century.
